Vulkocell®
Vulkocell® is characterized by a mixed-cell structure, which enables higher deformation and lower compression strength than compact elastomers. This foamed polyurethane elastomer is ideal for applications that require high dynamic load capacity and low permanent deformation, from general mechanical engineering to automotive engineering.
With its microcellular structure, Vulkocell® offers exceptional volume compressibility with minimal lateral expansion, making it particularly suitable for compact designs and vibration-sensitive applications. Often used in auxiliary springs, shock absorbers, and seals, Vulkocell® ensures safety and suspension comfort. For humid environments, we also offer solutions made from hydrolysis-stabilized Vulkocell, which are particularly durable.

Vulkocell® is used where a component needs to be highly deformable under pressure without expanding much laterally (low transverse strain). Vulkocell® is a wear-resistant material with particularly good elastic properties. This combination is especially suited to compact installations in confined spaces and to dynamic loads – for example auxiliary and elastomer springs, shock absorbers, pressure bars in the paper industry and sealing elements of all kinds.
Both are cellular polyurethane elastomers, but with different focuses. Vulkocell® is designed as a spring element with high resilience for dynamic loads and for noise reduction (auxiliary springs, spring elements of all kinds, seals). Diepocell® is optimised as a damping material for maximum energy absorption in safety and buffer applications (e.g. impact buffers in elevator systems, emergency buffers in crane systems and damping elements of all kinds). The selection depends on the energy input as well as the type of load and the purpose of the component (dynamic loads are supported elastically by Vulkocell® and high stop loads are damped by Diepocell®).
Vulkocell® is manufactured as standard in a density of 300-800 kg/m³ and is designed for -30 °C to +80 °C (with special formulations down to -60 °C). Density and cell structure determine how much the material deforms under load and how it recovers – the selection should therefore be based on load, deflection, installation space and the desired recovery behaviour. Hydrolysis-resistant versions are available for humid areas.
As a mixed-cell polyurethane elastomer, Vulkocell® covers the same fields of application as micro- and mixed-cell polyurethanes also known as Cellasto® or generally as Zellvulkollan (cellular Vulkollan), for example for auxiliary and elastomer springs, shock absorbers, pressure bars and seals. It is manufactured as standard in a density of 300 to 800 kg/m³ and is designed for -30 °C to +80 °C, with special formulations down to -60 °C. Under load it barely expands sideways and recovers well; hydrolysis-resistant versions are also available. Selection depends on load, deflection, installation space and the desired recovery behaviour.
